HEALTHY IS BEAUTIFUL

THE SECRET TO YOUR BEST COMPLEXION EVER

Healthy skin looks smooth, clear, hydrated and flawlessly radiant and is able to act like a shield to protect internal organs against damage from heavy impact, temperature fluctuations and chemicals. Meanwhile unhealthy skin, or skin with a compromised barrier function, is not only unable to do its job, but may also suffer redness, irritation, breakouts, rashes, tightness, broken capillaries and dryness—uncomfortable conditions that keep you from looking and feeling your best. At Jouviance, the health of your skin is our top priority. We promise safe, gentle products that will respect your skin’s natural balance while providing the highest possible concentrations of active ingredients backed by clinical studies and supported by patented technologies. Our skin care will strengthen your skin’s barrier and correct or prevent specific concerns for your healthiest skin ever. The result? A smooth skin that glows with youthful vitality.

LEADER IN CLEAN BEAUTY

KEEPING IT CLEAN WHY JOUVIANCE HAS AN EXTENSIVE LIST OF NO-GO INGREDIENTS

We believe in formulating safe, effective products that are gentle on even the most sensitive skin. That’s why we were among the first beauty brands in Canada to adopt a strict blacklist that ensures we forego ingredients that are known or suspected to cause harmful side effects on bodies or the environment. Originally inspired by the David Suzuki Foundation’s ‘Dirty Dozen,’ a list of twelve cosmetic ingredient categories that are toxic, problematic or harmful to the environment, our blacklist sets us apart as a pioneer of clean beauty and has become an integral piece of our DNA.

The most common artificial preservative in the cosmetic industry, parabens are used to inhibit bacteria and mold growth to increase a product’s shelf life. Studies have shown that parabens can disrupt normal hormone function, especially in the case of estrogen.
Used as foaming agents that emulsify greasy substances, sulfates such as sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) are detergents that are generally found in shampoo, toothpaste, body wash and facial cleanser. Sulfates may cause temporary irritation to the skin and eyes resulting in redness, dryness and itching. That’s why all of our cleansers are non-foaming.
Pthalates are typically added to personal care products as moisturizers or to promote the absorption of other ingredients into the skin. Exposure to this category of chemicals has been linked to sperm damage, obesity and insulin resistance in men (which can lead to Type 2 Diabetes), thyroid irregularities in men and women and asthma and skin allergies in children. n
An emollient substance derived from petroleum, mineral oil is used to lock moisture into skin and add shine to hair. It’s widely used in moisturizers and hair-care products because it’s cheap, but studies have shown that mineral oil may be contaminated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which can cause skin irritation and allergies. Instead of mineral oil, we use vegetable oils such as Inca Inchi oil because it nourishes, repairs and soothes the skin while reinforcing the skin barrier.
Colorants, which are widely used in the cosmetics industry may cause allergies. This is why we prefer to exclude them from our formulations.
The term “fragrance” actually refers to any combination of thousands of chemicals that produce a scent. Many of these chemicals have not been tested for toxicity and can prompt allergies, migraines and asthma. To ensure our formulas suit even the most sensitive skin, we prefer to exclude artificial fragrances.
We avoid the inclusion of all ingredients derived from animals and refrain from substances that could disturb the skin’s natural balance. All of our beauty products are vegan.
We care about animal welfare and avoid testing our products on animals. None of the ingredients we purchase have been tested on animals either.
